Romeo & Juliet - Austin Rees
This film centers around the forbidden love between a Dixie State student and a young FLDS girl. The short film will depict the events immediately leading up to and shortly after their decision to run away. The film reaches its climax when it is revealed that the female character is pregnant and it is this revelation that leads to their decision. This film has both drama and romance and could be a perfect project for our class.

Starts with Steve at a park relaxing and receives a phone call from Jamba Juice offering him
a job, he didn’t want to work for them. A couple of days go by and he wishes would’ve taken the job because he needs the money. He goes to the park and is resting, he looks over and sees himself in a 3 rd person point of view on the phone having the same conversation he had the other day. He runs up to himself and is saying to take the job. The 3 rd person version of himself is confused and hangs up the phone, he looks up and the other him is gone. Steve starts to question what has caused it. His friends don’t believe him. While he is at his friends Steve’s mom calls him and asks to take his dog (Athena) to the vet because she is sick. Steve can’t because he is with his friends. Days go by, and his dog dies. While the family is mourning the death of the dog Steve’s mom tells him that she heard that he needs money so she applied him to a job. Steve isn’t in the mood to talk about jobs at his dog’s funeral. Days go by and he is heading home, he realizes that something is different about his house. He goes to his room, and gets a call from his mom. She is asking him to take his dog to the vet, he is about to say that his dog is dead but before he can finish the dog walks in. He studies about what is happening. (Multiple parallel planes are existing on a single plane at the same time.) He needs to wait for the astronomical anomaly period to pass and everything will go back. The anomaly period passes and to relax he goes to the park. While at the park, he receives a call offering him a job. (The same scene the amovie started with)
Space Dog - Mariah
10 minute short about an alien in a male/female human body wanting to experience earth. We see him/her arrive in a simple fashion. One minute there is nothing and the next they're sitting on a park bench or on a curb etc. All they have are the clothes on their back and a small bag that looks worn/out of fashion and a note with simple instructions, telling them to enjoy their time, check in every night and they'll be back for them in three days. The alien then wanders St George. Comes upon a garage sale, people fighting, watches a movie, discovers music etc. Though there are many enjiyable things the alien is not as fond of earth as they'd hoped to be. Three days are up and the morning before they're supposed to leave they talk to their superiors, expressing relief to go home. Superiors are surprised and ask if he is sure there is nothing he will miss, nothing he wants to bring with him. The alien thinks back remembering seeing an abused dog tied on a short leash and how happy it was to see them. They next morning he is in the same spot he arrived. His bag is a little fuller, CDs, treats and a few trashy novels and the dog at their side panting happily. One minute they are there, the next they are not. They are off to space.

Grimaldi/ Father of Clowns
This is a biopic about the life of Joseph Grimaldi, the father of Clowns. It would take place backstage moments before Grimaldi steps out to give his final performance. The story of his life would be shown mostly through flashbacks, and would pay homage to the many contributions he made to the art of clowning over his short but illustrious career. There is plenty of room for drama, since after a life of physically damaging stunts and alcoholism, Grimaldi dies a penniless drunk, but I'm thinking the ending will show Grimaldi hobbling onstage with the help of a cane to give his last performance, for which he needed to sit on a chair.
Crooks and Liars: The story of Brinton Mckenzie/ Suburban Black Market - Spencer
This is a documentary exploring the story of the fictional Brinton Mckenzie, a resident of the southwestern city of St. George, Utah, who begins an extremely lucrative black market scheme selling household items to people for much cheaper than they can get at retail stores. The business is run over snapchat, and when a person in St. George needs a certain item, they communicate with Brinton and he gets what they need. Since this is a short film, we can go without any dramatic reenactments, but rather the story will be told by people connected to the crime in some way (friends of the culprit, police officers, family members, authors of books on the crime). I would like this film to be told as though it were a true story, lacking the overt comedy of a “mockumentary”, but still with some humor, like a real life documentary.
The Boy Who Called Clown - Nakavius
Max has been seeing clowns and warns the townspeople that they are being attacked. The townspeople go to investigate these "sightings" but no clown is in sight. Max keeps seeing the clowns and warns the townspeople once more. The townspeople ignore Max. Max is then found dead and the clowns move to another town to spread the coulrophobia (fear of clowns).
